Lucy earned her Ph.D. in Musicology but yearns for the days when scholars were generalists. She believes that the arts and humanities are sustenance for the mind and soul and are worth fighting for. She also believes that academic work can be both rigorous and readable.

Lucy has a certificate in editing from the University of Chicago and is a member of ACES: The Society for Editing and the Editorial Freelancers Association.

In her spare time, she loves to read literary fiction, go for long walks, and play Chopin nocturnes on the piano. Of course, her two small children make spare time a scarcity. Luckily she also loves to read Bill Peet and Lynley Dodd and Maurice Sendak.
